My aim as a therapist is to establish a safe space in which a collaborative process unfolds leading to helpful insights and/or management of an acute crisis/situation. I do this by dedicating the first few sessions to getting to know you and your story, learning what brings you to therapy now, and understanding what you are hoping to get out of the process. As we continue to meet, we work together towards reaching your goals, reducing unwanted symptoms, and increasing a sense of overall fulfillment.

This process works best when there is a good fit or match between the therapist and the person seeking to be heard --meaning the more comfortable you feel in the room the more likely you will be to share freely with your therapist and get the most out of your time. Of course, feeling at ease with a new person can naturally take some time, but I encourage you to listen to your gut when choosing a therapist.
